¿Cuáles son las expectativas del "Time Zone Alignment"?

  • All appointments must align with the missionary’s time zone.
  • In most areas, missionaries can meet with their mentor Monday through Friday, between 9:00 AM and 3:40 PM (missionary’s local time).
    • Appointments may start as late as 3:00 PM, but must end by 3:40 PM.
  • Do not schedule appointments on:
    • Preparation Day
    • Saturdays
    • Sundays
  • If you work in an area where mentoring sessions occur outside the standard hours (e.g., evenings in many parts of Africa), please consult your mentor trainer to confirm the appropriate meeting times.

  • If you are helping a missionary make up a missed mentoring session by holding 2 sessions in one week, please try to hold the mentoring sessions 2-3 days apart to allow the missionaries time to apply what they are learning in the session.”
  • During slow seasons (January-March) week 12 can be used, to make up missed sessions. However, during busy seasons, it will not be possible to make up sessions in a missionary’s week 12 because you will already be assigned new missionaries.

Qué debo hacer si aparece un emergency subbing appointment en mi calendario y no puedo tener la sesión?

As outlined in the Scheduling Requirements on the Outlook Calendar and Reporting Instructions page, any open time slots in your calendar may be used for emergency subbing appointments. If you are assigned to sub during a time that you’re unavailable due to your calendar not yet being updated, reach out to your team to find someone who can cover the appointment. It is your responsibility to find cover for the missionary. Once a switch is made, let the Area Time-Off Assistant know.

  • Any time in your calendar that you are working and is not taken by a mentoring session can be taken by an emergency subbing session, unless it is specifically blocked off as “Unavailable”

¿Cuándo debo marcar a un misionero como «Unresponsive Missionary»?

when a missionary does not respond to you within a week, after multiple attempts of contact. 

(Please be 100% responsible. Just sending an email everyday may not help you get in contact with the missionary. Find their information in the PMG app and call, text, whatsapp them to try to get in touch. )

¿Qué puedo hacer si los misioneros hablan un idioma que no sé? (Mencionar al menos 5)

  • Pray for the gift of tongues (Preach My Gospel, 143).

  • Use simple, brief, and clear language.

  • Focus on one principle at a time to achieve an outcome.

  • Translate what is needed, but not everything you say.

  • Include the trainer by directing them to Preach My Gospel in their native language and including them in practice activities in the mission language. 

  • Follow the principles of “Teach for Understanding” in Preach My Gospel (189). For example, explain words or phrases and ask questions to determine what missionaries understood.

  • Use resources in the missionary's native and mission languages. 

  • Write key words or questions in the chat or use the Zoom whiteboard so missionaries can both hear and see what you are saying. Invite missionaries to turn on “show captions” in Zoom.

  • “Screenshare” Google Translate as needed.
