While writing several follow-ups to this classic novel, the author also penned a six volume collection of short stories that features the name of one of the characters from the original books, inspired by her childhood experiences with her sisters. This collection includes one entitled “An Old-Fashioned Thanksgiving,” following the Thanksgiving celebration of the Bassett family in New Hampshire, “poor in money, but rich in land and love.”
