IDEA states that children with disabilities, including autism, are entitled to early intervention services and special education. Before having special education services, the student must go through a few processes: an unstructured diagnostic play session, evaluation, speech assessment, parent interview, current behavior, and an evaluation on life skills.
Some accommodations that the student will receive are a quiet testing place, ways to identify their problem and how to keep calm, give extremely clear directions, and another accommodation is to break assignments into small sections instead of an overall big lesson.
