The setting takes place in Miguel neighborhood which is Clarke new neighborhood. Clarke didn't know the neighborhood so she decided to make a map The neighborhood's streets, river, and parks become clues on their map and following it leads them to the ice cream truck at the end.

Miguel and Clarke each use their strengths and knowledge. Miguel knows the neighborhood and leads the way and Clarke has the compass and teaches Miguel how to use it.
