Free will is the ability to choose freely between food and evil. Only angels and humans have free will.
What is meant by the phrase "he descended into Hell"?
It means that, after Jesus died, his soul went to the place of the dead. Jesus also freed the souls of God's faithful ones who had died up to that time and who were waiting to be reunited with him in heaven.
