No - unless they are faculty and fill out the online form to get permission to do so

Instead of writing an item’s call number on a sticky note so a patron can find their item on the shelves, what tool can you use more efficiently?
Under the button, “Actions” either text or email the item to the patron so they can directly access the item on our website.

Publications that are expected to continue publishing so they are shelved throughout the library along with books and do check out (ex.Guiness Book of World Records)
How do you perform an item creation/create a brief title for a book?
Open a checkout screen
Click on the book with the yellow x above it situated at the top of the checkout tab
Enter as much of the information about the item as you can (call number, author, title, barcode)
If the book already has a barcode then enter that item ID in. If it does not have a barcode get one from the barcode sheet and stick it inside the back cover and enter the number from the new barcode sticker
This allows you to check the book out and when it comes back through BP it will be routed to item creation to be fully integrated into the system properly

How do you extend the “Pickup by” date on a hold?
Open the “Modify Holds for Item” tab in Workflows and scan in the item barcode.
Check 2 things: If there is more than one other hold on the item, and if the current pickup date is more than a week ahead. (If either are true they can’t extend)
Click the “Modify” button for the item and select the date that is one week after the existing Pickup by date.

What are at least three tips we can offer patrons who are struggling with database access?
-Check their account privileges (community members have little access)
-Make sure the patron is signed into their library account and accessing the database through our website
-Clear any website cache or cookies
-If it is a call: double check if they are accessing databases from on campus or off-campus
- Refer them to the Subject Librarian over the databases (Rebecca Walton)
-If the database requires a separate login, the student can often log in with their netid@byu.edu username and BYU password. Sometimes they can also make an account with their personal email and password, such as for Refworks.
What is “Linkedin Learning” and where in the library is it available?
A training resource on a variety of subjects (like adobe or excel) with access to any student on any computer signed into their BYU account
Where can you look to see what issues of a periodical the library has in workflows (if it doesn’t show on the library website)?
Bring up the book in ‘Item Search and Display’, click on the little red book in the top left corner & check under holdings
