What is manifestation determination?

For students who have been suspended for more than 10 days, the parent(s), school personnel, and relevant members of the individualized educational program (IEP) team must review relevant information in the student’s file, including the student’s IEP, to determine whether the conduct in question was caused by, or had a direct and substantial relationship to, the child’s disability or the direct result of the local educational agency’s failure to implement the IEP.
