Part of the brain that sits behind the ears
What is temporal lobe?
Generates signals to direct the movement of the body
What is motor cortex?
Damage results in visual distortions (agnosias) and visual inattention
What are association areas?
A person is learning to memorize a speech or lines in a play
What is occipital lobe?
Part of the brain above and behind where your spinal cord connects to your brain
What is cerebellum?
Processes fearful and threatening stimuli
What is amygdala?
Damage results in receptive or fluent aphasia (the person has lost their ability to grasp the meaning of words)
What is wernicke's area?
A person voluntarily gets dressed and makes a cup of tea
What is frontal lobe?
What is cerebral cortex?
Part of the brain attached to the hypothalamus
What is pituitary gland?
Responsible for speech production and articulation
What is broca's area?
Damage results in respiratory failure, paralysis, or loss of sensation
What is medulla?
A blind person is tracking the sound of moving objects
What is visual cortex?
Processes touch, pain, temperature, and sense of limb position
What is parietal lobe?
Part of the brain located under the cerebral cortex and above the brain stem
What is limbic system?
Responsible for growth and sexual/reproductive development and function
What is pituitary gland?
Damage results in high/low blood pressure, weight loss/gain with/without changes to appetite, and or infertility
What is hypothalamus?
A person holds a spoon with their eyes closed, but is able to identify the object based on its texture, temperature, and shape
What is sensory cortex?
What is limbic system?
Part of the brain located in the white matter of the cerebellum
What is corpus cerebellum?
All information from your body's senses (except smell) must be processed before being sent to your brain's cerebral cortex
What is thalamus?
Damage results in the brain being unable to send messages to the body to control its unconscious functions, and equally cannot receive messages back from the body
What is brain stem?
A person's facial expression changes to smile or laugh in response to a joke
What is reticular formation?
A person tries to say, "Dad went to get the milk at Walmart" but damage in this part of the brain leads them to say, "Dad, milk, Walmart."
What is broca's area?
