This is the typical surgery for cataract removal. The ophthalmic surgeon uses a small, scleral tunnel or self-sealing corneal incision. In most patients, a foldable intraocular lens (IOL) is implanted at the time of surgery. Laser-assisted cataract removal may assist in correcting vision. Premium lenses can be implanted which decrease the patient's need for glasses.
