eye
Iris
The coloured part of the eye that regulates (control) the amount of light entering the eye.
Rods
Rods see in black, white, and shades of gray and tell us the form or shape that something has.
Cones
Cones allows you to see color.
Retina
The thin layer of tissue at the back of the eye. It converts (change) light into electric signals that are sent through the optic nerve to the brain.
Lens
Its main function is to transmit and focus light onto the retina. It changes shape (gets thinner or thicker) to make sure that the image on the retina is clear.
Optic Nerve
It is located at the back of the eye and used a cord to connect it to the brain. It carries electric signals from the Retina to the Brain.
Cornea
A transparent coating that covers the eye. Its main purpose is to control and focuses light rays entering the eye.
Macula
A small sensitive area in the centre of Retina that give central vision that lets you see objects directly in front of you.
Pupil
The hole in the middle of the iris. It changes size to let light into the eye. It gets smaller in bright light and larger in dim light
