Based on verses 1-4, why do you think the writer begins by telling both the rich and the poor to listen? What does that teach us about who needs God's wisdom?
God's wisdom is for everyone. Money, social status, or position does not make someone more in need of God's wisdom than another person. Rich and poor alike need to understand that their true security must come from God, not from possessions.
If money cannot prevent death, why is it foolish to make getting rich the main purpose of your life?
Because wealth cannot give us eternal life or save us from death. Money can provide things we need in this life, but it cannot replace God or determine what happens to us after this life.
Based on verses 7-15, what is the biggest difference between trusting in riches and trusting in God?
Riches are temporary and cannot save us, but God is our true source of hope and salvation. Wealth can disappear, but God's power and promises do not.
How can Psalm 49:16 change the way you feel when you see someone your age, or someone you know with more money, better things, or a bigger house?
It reminds us not to become jealous, intimidated, or afraid because someone else has more. Their possessions do not determine their worth, and our worth does not come from what we own. We should be thankful for what God has given us and focus on living wisely and faithfully
Based on verses 15-20, if everything you owned disappeared tomorrow, what would still make your life valuable?
Our value does not come from our money, possessions, popularity, accomplishments, or social status. Our greatest value comes from God. Psalm 49 teaches us that earthly riches are temporary, but our relationship with God has eternal importance.
