As Bod grows up, he learns more about the world, the living and the dead, makes new friends, goes to school, and more. He is afraid of being found by the man Jack who had killed his entire family. Eventually, when he is a teen, reunites with Scarlett, who has befriended a man that lives in Bod’s family’s house.

What is the rising action?

What is Fate vs. Free Will?
Scarlett, who had come back to a place near Old town, finds herself reunited unexpectedly with Bod, and meets a man who, she finds out, lived in Bod’s family’s house, and takes Bod to him, but is in for an unexpected surprise, as it turns out, the man is actually the man Jack, who chases Bod and Scarlett, along with a few fellow members, back into the graveyard.
What is the Climax
“They have hairless wings, and they fly low and fast. They do not visit this world, but they fly the red skies above the road to Ghûlheim.” (Miss Lupescu)
“I’m never going to need to know this.” (Bod).
Knowing what happens later in the book, this is an example of this technique.

Scarlett takes Bod to the man’s house, but finds out that the man is actually the man Jack, and runs away with Scarlett to the graveyard, with Jack and his associates on their. In the graveyard, Bod outsmarts the associates of Jack, until eventually he faces Jack, but outsmarts him as well, leading to Jack’s death.
