What are the first two steps when a patient enters the dispensary?

1 - verifying medical card AND state issued ID or other form of identification match

2 - ensuring both are valid and current.

100

Can customers stack multiple discounts or promotions?

Sometimes… but almost always, no.

Discounts generally cannot be stacked, but there are a few gray areas. for example:

  • A 5% senior discount might still apply to edibles or carts while a 20% off Top Shelf Tuesday promo applies only to a specific flower item in the same transaction.

When in doubt, ask management before combining any offers.

(This question is meant to open a team discussion about common gray areas and how to handle them consistently. When do you think stacking makes sense? Where do you usually draw the line?)

Describe the pricing structure for our concentrates - I'm looking for unit prices and bundles prices across solventless, solvent based, and disposables

Solvent Based 510 carts and dabs - $35/unit or 4/$100

Solventless carts, dabs, and disposables - $50/gram or $30/half gram

Disposables - $35/unit for Crushmore, $45/unit for all other 1grams, $120 for 3g, or 4 for $140

How can you tell which type of extraction method was used for each package of edible?

Look at the customer facing labels Sarah keeps in the case AND sometimes the extraction method is listed on the ingedients list

100

What is the difference between Dakota Green and Terp Ranch Bulk flower?

Dakota Green is our indoor hydroponic grow, focusing on precise, controlled environments that allow us to produce perfectly cultivated plants consistently.

The Terp Ranch is our outdoor grow, emphasizing all-natural, sustainable growing practices, working with the earth, and letting the plants thrive in sunlight and living soil.

Key difference: Dakota Green prioritizes environmental control and consistency, while The Terp Ranch prioritizes natural methods, sustainability, and terpene-rich craft flower.

200

What must you always check BEFORE transferring product to the sales floor?

- The METRC tag of the product you are moving matches the METRC tag of the product on the sales floor

- The product has all compliant labeling (ie. dispo stickers, flower labels, manufacturer labels)

200

Why did Sarah take away PLINKO and how should you explain it to customers? ALSO - Why do customers only get one preroll during happy hours only? (hint: the answers are basically the same so I joined them together)

This new policy exists to:
1️. Maintain consistency — all customers get the same perks

2️. Prevent stacking or “extra” expectations — customers were attempting to stack Plinko game discounts on top of other promotions and ask for more than the allotted penny rolls because "they're special"

3️. Protect staff — reduces arguments with entitled or argumentative customers.

Budtenders should politely enforce the rules and refer to management if a customer pushes or questions the policy.

200

If a customer asks about a concentrate and you don’t know the answer off the top of your head, what should you do?

Do not guess or provide misinformation.

Instead:
1️. Refer to the packaging and shelf tag to provide accurate information on potency, terpenes, and extraction method.
2️. Explain what you do know confidently, such as form, flavor, or general use.
3️. Ask another budtender (if two people scheduled) if needed before giving advice.
4️. Ensure the customer understands proper dosing guidance and any high-potency warnings.

5. Use the sales flor computer to research quickly and answer

The goal is to stay compliant, protect the patient, and maintain trust, even if you don’t have all the answers immediately. Post the question in the group chat after the customer leaves! It may prove valuable for another budtender at some point in the future!

200

How can you tell if an edible is true to the marketing on the package or more of a blend? (Bonus - double points if you can describe where to find the names of the strains in the blend)

Refer to the budtender facing info card behind the product in the display case

200

What does the "organic" emblem on our bulk flower tags mean?

“Organic” on our bulk flower labels means the plant was grown using all-natural methods, without synthetic fertilizers, hormones, or pesticides.

For The Terp Ranch:

  • Uses living soil to naturally feed the plants.

  • Relies on natural sunlight whenever possible.

  • Practices sustainable growing and works in harmony with the environment.

  • No chemical additives are used at any stage of growth.

300

Under what circumstances can a product be returned, and what must you do to process it?

Only unopened, manufactured products can be returned — never bulk flower or deli-style product.

The only exception for an opened item is a visibly defective cartridge (like a leaky or non-functioning cart).

For an eligible return:

  • Process the return in Dutchie, refund the customer in cash,

  • Place the unopened product in the safe with a note for management review.

If it’s an opened defective cart, have the customer keep it and note the issue for inventory tracking.

How do solvent-based and solventless concentrates differ? (Bonus: double points if you can name which brands and products belong in which category)

Solvent-based: (like BHO or CO₂) use chemicals to extract cannabinoids/terpenes

Solventless: (like rosin or hash) use pressure or heat, no chemicals.

Solvent Based -

Crushmore (Live and Cured Resin) carts, dabs, disposables

Urbin Extracts (Liquid Diamonds / Distillate) carts and dabs

Big Sioux Extracts (Distillate) carts

Dak Green (Liquid Diamonds) Cart

CC Smoke (Live and Cured Resin) Disposables

Solventless -

Lifted Labs (live rosin)carts, disposable, and dabs

How do solvent-based and solventless edibles differ? (Bonus: double points if you can name which brands and products belong in which category)

olvent-based edibles use cannabis extracts made with solvents (like BHO or CO₂) to infuse the product.
Solventless edibles are made using cannabis concentrates or kief/rosin that didn’t use chemical solvents during extraction.

Key points for budtenders:

  • Always communicate how the product was made if asked, in simple terms.

  • Both types are lab-tested for potency and safety.

  • Know which brands/products fall into each category

Crushmore - Cured Resin (I'll have to double check this but I'm 90% positive)

DNS - Live Rosin

CC Smoke (Snoozerz) - Live and Cured Resin

605 Cannabis - Distillate and BHO Live Resin

We classify our plants as Sativa, Hybrid, and Indica. Is this a proper organization method based on modern science?

Modern cannabis science shows that almost everything on the market is a hybrid, and the effects of a strain depend heavily on each person’s endocannabinoid system, not just the Sativa/Indica label.

That said, classifying plants as Sativa, Indica, or Hybrid is still useful because:

  • It helps customers identify strains they are familiar with.

  • It’s easier to communicate expected effects, even if effects vary per individual.

  • It supports sales and patient comfort — most people know strains by these labels rather than picking “blind.”

Key takeaway: Sativa/Indica/Hybrid labels are simplified guides, not absolute science — always encourage customers to experiment and take notes for what works with their body

What is the new waste management policy as we discussed at last month's meeting? ( hint: there are three types of waste we deal with and they are all treated differently up until the last step, in which they are all treated the same)

1. All stems go back into the original bulk bag or jar with the rest of that batch.

2. Defective cartridges are not received back into inventory, note the issue, but do not repackage or return to inventory.

3. Any floor weed is swept up, labeled appropriately, and stored upstairs in the backstock safe for disposal.

All waste, including stems and floor product, is manifested back to Dakota Green for proper destruction and documentation.

When can or should you use the Dutchie discount button?

The Dutchie discount should only be used in two situations:

1️. When a product rings up higher than its marketed or labeled price — use the discount to correct the total so the patient pays the correct amount.

2️. When offering a "Compassion Discount" — a small, reasonable discount given for a good cause, like helping a patient experiencing medical or financial hardship.

Always add a note in Dutchie explaining why the discount was used, and notify management if the discount is significant or recurring.

What is live resin caviar, and what should you tell a patient about it? (These are the new Urbin Extracts dabs)
(Bonus for double points - If Crushmore and Urbin Extracts are both Live Resin dabs, then why do they look different?)

Live resin caviar is a concentrate made of THCa crystals (“diamonds”) suspended in live resin sauce.

Key points to communicate to patients:

  • Preserves terpene-rich flavor and aroma because it’s made from fresh-frozen plants.

  • Explain the form and consistency accurately — don’t mislabel it as shatter, sauce, or rosin.

400

A patient is experienced and wants strong relaxation or sleep aid. They are not concerned about flavor or terpenes.
Which product(s) would you recommend?

Discuss correct answers and have the staff vote whether they get points!

400

A customer asks which strains will help with joint discomfort. How can you guide them?

Do not make medical claims or say a strain “treats” a condition.
Instead:
1 Reference the info card to identify strains with terpenes associated with relaxing or calming effects (e.g., myrcene, linalool, pinene).
2️ Use the info card to explain general effect tendencies — for example, which strains are more relaxing or body-focused — without making medical claims.
3️ Ask about the customer’s experience level, preferred consumption method, and dosing comfort, then suggest strains based on effect and terpene profiles.
4️ Reinforce start low, go slow and encourage the customer to track personal effects for their unique endocannabinoid system.

How should staff handle a surprise inspection from the Department of Health?

First, verify their credentials — always check for a valid badge or ID and confirm the agency.

Immediately call management to be on their way and keep them on speaker until they arrive.

  • If Sarah can’t be reached, call Jake.

  • If Jake can’t be reached, call Nevada.

Once verified, allow the inspector into the building and let them look around — but never leave them unattended.

Stay professional: only answer basic budtender-level questions you’re confident about.
Do not offer extra information or opinions — keep responses short, factual, and compliant.

What is the difference between Liquid Diamonds and Live Resin?

Trick question! There is no real difference — liquid diamonds are made almost the same way as live resin.

Key points to communicate:

  • Both are live resin products, preserving flavor and terpene profile.

  • Liquid diamonds are essentially concentrated THCa crystals in live resin "terp" sauce.

  • Always describe it accurately, without over-explaining or mislabeling.

A patient is very sensitive to THC and usually finds relief with just a few hits of Blue Cookies bulk flower. They are interested in switching to edibles and want to know what terpenes they might experience.
How would you guide them and suggest an appropriate product?

Start by matching the terpene profile of the flower they like (e.g., Blue Cookies terpenes) to edibles that highlight similar flavors/aromas.

Recommend a low-dose edible to account for increased potency per mg and delayed onset.

Explain the onset and duration of effects (30–90 min onset, 6–12 hours duration).

Encourage them to start with one serving, wait, and adjust slowly.

Reinforce that terpene experience may differ slightly in edibles vs. smoking/vaping flower.

Answers may vary - talk about mix and match within the same tier, buying more to save more, not buying less than a 1/2 oz of the bottom shelf, shopping on top shelf or terp day, etc

the rest of the team can decide if you get the points!
