What is Sting?

Sting is the name that Bilbo gives his sword after killing the giant spider. It is first introduced during the climax of chapter eight. Bilbo draws his sword after being attacked by the giant spider and uses it to kill him. Sting is significant because it symbolizes Bilbo becoming entirely comfortable with himself and his transition into a brave hero. This is a major turning point for Bilbo in the story.

The Wood-elves have a business relationship with the people of this town; they send and receive goods to and from each other.
