1. Wash hands 2. Avoid sick people 3. Handle food properly 4. Cover your mouth 5. Avoid sharing personal items
100
What is Cilia?
hairlike projections that line parts of the respiratory system. They sweep mucus and pathogens to the throat to be coughed out or swallowed.
100
How Communicable Diseases Are Transmitted?
Many pathogens are spread by direct and indirect contact and through breathing in contaminated air.
200
What are viruses?
Viruses are pieces of genetic material surrounded by a protein coat. By themselves, they are inactive. They need living cells to reproduce.

200
What are gastric juices?
in the stomach kills pathogens that enter body through mouth or nose.

How does your immune system fight off invaders?
There are physical and chemical barriers that make up your body’s first line of defense. They protect against a wide variety of invaders.

What is bacteria? What is one function of bacteria?
Bacteria are single-celled microorganisms. Most bacteria are harmless, and many types help digest food and make some of the vitamins you need.

What is passive and active immunity?
Active- Develops when your body has already been exposed to antigens from invading pathogens. Artificial active immunity comes with vaccines. Passive- the short-term immunity that comes from antibodies from another person or animal. Like Pregnancy.
300
What is a toxin?
A substance that kills cells or interferes with their functions.
