The businessman is of no use to the stars. He owns a flower, which he waters every day. He owns three volcanoes, which he cleans out every week.

He is the only one of them all who does not seem ridiculous, because he is thinking of something else besides himself. Because his planet is indeed too small, there is no room on it for two people. Because it was blest every day with one thousand four hundred and forty sunsets in twenty-four hours!

A day lasts only one minute. A month/thirty minutes/thirty days. He felt that he loved the lamplighter who was so faithful to his orders. To be always in the sunshine, just walk along rather slowly and the day will last as long as you like.

The geographer orders an inquiry into the explorer's moral character, because an explorer who told lies would bring disaster on the books of the geographer. One requires the explorer to furnish proofs. The recitals of explorers are put down first in pencil. Then after the explorer has furnished proofs, they put them down in ink.

One hundred and eleven kings, seven thousand geographers, nine hundred thousand businessmen, seven-and-a-half million drunkards, and three-hundred-eleven million vain men.
Why does the snake always speaks in riddles?
'I can solve them all, that's why,' the snake replied.
How long has the businessman inhabited the fourth asteroid planet? What was the first thing to disturb him and when? What was the second thing to disturb him and when?
Fifty-four years. The first time was twenty-two years ago, when some giddy goose fell from goodness knows where and made the most frightful noise that resounded all over the place. The second time, eleven years ago, he was disturbed by an attack of rheumatism.
What are the only things on the fifth asteroid planet? What is the inhabitant of this planet's occupation? Why does he need to do this? Why does the prince think that this occupation is at least useful? What does the inhabitant mop his forehead with while doing his job?
A street lamp and a lamplighter. To put the lamp out in the morning and light the lamp in the evening. Because those are the orders, and orders are orders. For at least his work has some meaning. A handkerchief decorated with red squares.
Who inhabits the sixth asteroid planet? What does that mean? What does the little prince think is so odd about this person? What does the inhabitant think the little prince is? Why can't you trust someone who drinks too much?
A geographer is a scholar who knows the location of all the seas, rivers, towns, mountains, and deserts. He doesn't know anything about his own planet, like if it has any oceans, mountains, towns, rivers, or deserts. An explorer. Because intoxicated people see double.
How many lamplighters would be needed on Earth without electricity? What is the army of lamplighters like? What is the list of countries from first to last, in order of their lighting of lamps.
Four-hundred-sixty-two-thousand, five hundred and eleven lamplighters. They would be regulated like a ballet in the opera. First New Zealand/Australia, then China/Siberia, then Russia/the Indies, then Africa/Europe, then South America, then North America.
