On page 9, Mr. K states “Just childish. Forgive me, darling”, He gives her a rough pat. “Too much work lately. I’m sorry. I think I’ll lie down awhile”. What prompted Mr. K to say this? What does this say about the nature of their relationship?
The two of them were in an argument, in which Mr. K yelled at his wife after she told him about another dream she had. This shows a level of apologia in Mr. K's relationship that is typical in abusive situations, especially between married spouses.
