 Shylock criticizes Launcelot for leaving, and warns him that Bassanio will be a more harsh ruler. He also tells Jessica to secure the home as he is worried that something may happen while he is dining with Bassanio. Launcelot makes a joke about shylock seeing a masque, annoyed by that, shylock orders Jessica to lock all the windows and not look outside and stay inside. Bassanio hints to her that she should look outside for a christian man with her attention. After they both left she thought to herself that she would have a lost father and he would have a lost daughter.
