Randy said he wasn't going to the rumble because fighting won't solve the problems they had been dealing with. In the end, there will still be greasers and socs, whether everyone was the same or not.
How is innocence a theme?
Innocence is a theme that associates with the eye colors of each character. The more a greasers seen, the less innocent they are(like Dally or two-bit). In the book, the innocence of the two youngest characters, Ponyboy and Johnny, changes.

Ponyboy favorites Sodapop because Soda is funner and understands Ponyboy more. Ponyboy thinks Darry doesn't like him because he yells at him a lot and Ponyboy feels like he doesn't understand him. Ponyboy thinks Darry expects too much from him.

He realized it wasn't reality. Reality is much more negative, scary and rough. He can't always go to the movies to escape reality.
What does the book ''Gone with the Wind,'' symbolize?
There are a lot of similarities between the greasers and socs, and the Nothern and Southern people. In both books, there is basically a war between people in places next to each other. Also, there are similar characters in both books. Near the end of the book when Ponyboy is reading Johnny's book and his letter, Ponyboy says the southern gentlemen were gallant. He realizes that is why Johnny looks up to Dally. Ponyboy realizes how gallant Johnny is too because he saved the kids from the fire, just because he knew they could have a chance at changing the world and ''staying gold,''unlike him.
When Ponyboy is failing at the end, what does he write about?
He decides to write about what happened in the book. The book is his theme. He writes about the situation between the greasers and the socs.
How is violence a theme?
Violence is in almost every chapter. The book wouldn't have the same effect without the violence in it. The fighting methods is also a way that sets the greasers and socs apart. In rumbles greasers fight fairly and socs don't. Throughout the book, greasers fight violence with violence, like when Johnny killed Bob.
