Cilia are cells that line the inside of the nasal cavity. They have a sweeping motion that collects dirt and dust from entering our lungs.

Breathing refers to the movement of air into and out of your lungs. Respiration refers to the chemical reaction inside your cells.

Explain the gas exchange process.
When air enters the alveoli, it then enters the capillaries, which takes the air to the red blood cells. The red blood cells then take the oxygen, carbon dioxide, and water to the heart so the heart can send the oxygen throughout the body for energy. The red blood cells then take the carbon dioxide and water back to the alveoli to be exchanged for new air. The carbon dioxide and water is then breathed out.

Explain how the respiratory system interacts with the circulatory system.
The respiratory and circulatory system interact with each other by means of the capillaries. When you breathe in air, the air travels to the alveoli, which then enters the blood stream. The blood stream then takes the air to the heart, so that oxygen can be pumped throughout the body for energy. The blood stream then take the carbon dioxide and water back to the alveoli to be breathed out again.
