Give me a definition and example of thermal energy.

Thermal energy comes from atoms moving around and bumping into each other. This is where heat comes from. The faster an atom moves, the more thermal energy there is. (ex. A space heater, rubbing your hands together)

Sound energy is created as sound waves vibrate through matter. Sound waves move similarly to throwing a rock in a pond. The closer the vibrations are to the source, the more energy there is. (ex. Musical instruments, sonar equipment, echolocation)
