Though within the novel, it is stated that this piece of historical literature was his favorite. Even getting angry when watching the movie adaptation and realizing that one of it's important characters is severely undermined.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
During the standoff with Octavio, Calvin envisions his brother and him taking down Octavio, fighting with the gun, and ending in a standoff. In this vision, Calvin points the gun to a defenseless Octavio, and in the moment of contemplating taking his life, would notice something about him. Something small and insignificant, but something to humanize Octavio, the color of his eyes, which are this color

Recounting the past, when Charles and Calvin were younger, they explored into a sewer tube, having to jump across water, and encountering what was thought of as a voice and something the grabbed Calvin's leg, all beneath this public area
