Actively listening and being receptive to the emotional needs of the student to better determine the best pathway of communication

Assistance provided to a student in order to assist them in completing desired behavior
What is Prompt
This is provided when expected behavior is observed.
What is Specific Positive Verbal Feedback
An individualized plan that includes a student's biological stressors, ABC pathway, and behavior plan.
What is Function Based Treatment Plan (FBTP)
Providing a preferred item/activity/verbal praise for the desired behavior after a non-preferred activity or task
Reinforcement
Providing the student with information of upcoming, potentially aversive situations, while the student is in a neutral or positive emotional state
What is Priming
Intentionally withholding attention during BOCs (behaviors of concern) until the behavior has ceased
What is Planned/Active Ignoring
Staff is engaged with students, actively scanning, if possible - walking around to increase proximity, free of utilizing technology and free of engaging in lengthy conversations with colleagues.
What is Active Supervision
Documentation to be filled out after a physical restraint has been utilized
What is Safe Crisis Management (SCM) form
Providing the most assistance to a student to complete a task and intently withdrawing assistance until the student is completing the task independently
What is Fading
A researched based curriculum including strategies for helping students focus their attention, improve their self-regulation skills, build resilience to stress, and develop a positive mind-set.
What is MindUp
Using a physical prompt to assist a student in completing a task (this will be built into a students plan)
What is Guided Compliance
Attending to a student regardless of their behavior or performance.; increased use of name, eye contact, greetings, etc.
What is Noncontingent Attention
Documentation utilized daily to track student's behaviors.
What is Yes/No Data Sheet
Reinforcing/accepting approximations in order to teach a target behavior
What is Shaping
Positive reinforcement system for increasing/maintaining classroom performance and behavior using tokens, tickets, etc in exchange for a specified reinforcers/rewards
What is Token Economy System
Short narratives that use visuals and simple language to explain what is socially acceptable within school and social scenarios
Social Narrative (Social Story)
Student taught expected behavior, student displays a behavior that needs to be corrected, teacher gives student a positive correction, student demonstrates the expected behavior, teacher/staff provides specific positive feedback.
What is the Learning Cycle
Data collection of antecedent, behavior, and consequence used to determine the function of a behavior.
What is ABC Data
The entire curve of a students behavior of concern starting with initiation of adverse stimuli, may reach peak escalation, then returning to a neutral state (each students neutral state may look different)
