What is “You're looking at the DNA of the Raiders. "The fire that burns the brightest in the Raiders organization is the will to win."

All Al Davis cared about was that fire. That's why, as an assistant coach, he was one of the 1st in professional football to scout players from under-represented, Historically

Black Colleges and Universities. That's why, as an owner, Al hired Art Shell, the first

African American head coach in the modern NFL. And that’s why he turned Tom

Flores, who was the first Hispanic starting quarterback in professional football history,

into the first Hispanic Head Coach to win a Super Bowl. In fact, the Raiders won two Lombardi trophies with Flores at the helm.

In short, Al Davis knew talent when he saw it. He just looked for the fire and passion

that transcended the sport. And if he saw that fire in you, you were a Raider.

Before every home game, we light this torch so that everyone can feel the fire that Al

Davis said burns the brightest in the Raiders organization. The first person to light the

original torch in Oakland was our great coach, John Madden and here in Las Vegas this

torch was first lit by Al’s wife, Carol Davis. This team is just as committed to excellence as it was in Al’s time. We're here for one purpose: three words that were Al's signature phrase: Just win baby!
