Any emergency, planned deadline is missed, route change, you are lost, any severe weather event, or any agreed upon call-ins/check-ins.

You arrive at your campsite for the night and have done your campsite selection. You have decided as a group that it is unsafe. Or maybe someone took it!!!

What do you do?

Call-in. Notify base you are changing campsite locations. 

Continue to a new location that you determined is safe. 

Call-in or ping location to basecamp of new campsite.

Choose one path and set a time limit to hike. Check for backstops and stop action if you reach a backstop. Reassess.

Bears become more active. Be uber conservative with kitchen locations and bear hang location.

Patient has acute respiratory distress or altered mental status - rapid evac.

It's getting cold, so we like fires! 

What are some trends this season with kitchens and fires that we should be aware of?

Adults lighting stoves, ground fires from stoves, fuel mix ups, campfires being left unattended.

Not a trend for us but the public. Campfires restarting the next day. Please help put those out if you see them.

If I'm calling in about an injured student and requesting an evac, what info should I have ready to deliver to the on-call person?

My location and Evac pick-up location and estimated time of arrival. Requests for assistance if needed to get to evac location. 

Students full name and a medical report of their current condition (SOAP note, vitals, head to toe, etc.). Brief summary of how the injury occurred if asked.
