The spinal cord is the message highway between the brain and the body. Injuries to the spinal cord are often categorized as complete or incomplete.

Why is injury prevention important for youth specifically?

Young people aged 12 to 19 have the highest likelihood of injury. Adolescents have experienced an increase in injuries over the past decade, especially among girls. Although males, in general, are more likely than females to be injured, young males (aged 12 to 19) are most at risk.
