What happens when Decrease happens?
Trees & habitats are being knocked down & destroyed.
What is Concentration?
Concentration is the amount of a substance such as a salt, that is a certain amount of tissue or liquid, such as blood.
What is a Trough?
A trough is the lowest point of a wave.
What is Kinetic Energy?
Kinetic energy is a property of a moving object or particle and depends not only on its motion but also on its mass.
Mirror Lab
Summary - In this lab we sketched images on index cards & put a mirror next to them to see which sketch was the most symmetrical. The football player sketch was the most symmetrical and the sunrise was the least symmetrical.
What happens in Over-Exploitation?
To exploit natural resources to an excessive degree.
What is a catalyst?
A catalyst is a substance that speeds up a chemical reaction.
What is a Crest?
A crest is the highest point of a wave.
What is Potential Energy?
Potential energy is stored energy that depends upon the relative position of various parts of a system.
Wave Lab
Summary - In this lab, we document how certain objects' waves are reflected, absorbed, or transmitted. The largest wave was corn syrup & starch with 5 cm. The smallest was sand & glitter with 1.5 cm.
What is Green-Washing?
Green washing is when a deceptive marketing practice where a company or organization falsely claims or exaggerates its environmental efforts or Sustainability practices to appear Eco-friendly.
What is Color Change?
Color change is when oxygen hits the substance and changes color. For example, when an apple is cut the inside will turn brown due to the oxygen hitting it.
What is Wavelength?
Wavelength is the distance between each wave.
What is Balanced & Unbalanced Force?
Balanced force is when 2 or more objects that are equal in size but opposite in direction, no change in movement will happen. The object will stay at rest or continue moving at constant speed. Unbalanced force is when forces acting on an object are not equal or opposite, so this will cause a change in movement. The object will accelerate in the direction of the stronger force.
Heat Flow Lab
Summary - In this lab we measured how slowly or quickly an ice cube would melt in someones non-dominant hand. Some observations were "blood rushing to hand", "hand turned red", and "puddles formed".
What is Eutrophication?
Eutrophication is a form of water pollution caused by humans.
What is Gas Production?
Gas production is when a substance starts to rot, an gas is produced. For example, ethylene gas is a gas produced by fruits when they rot.
What is Compression?
Compression is a region in a longitudinal wave where the particles are closest together.
What is Sound Energy?
Sound energy is a mechanical wave. It travels through a medium (like air, water, or solids) by vibrating particles within that medium. Sound requires a medium to move it along and is a form of kinetic energy because it involves the movement of molecules.
Steel Wool Lab
Summary - In this lab we mixed vinegar with water in Cup A, & plain water in Cup B. We put steel wool in each of them to see which one would have a bigger reaction. In the end, Cup B had a bigger reaction.
What is Sustainable Development?
Sustainable development is development that meets the needs if the present without compromising the ability of future generations.
What is an Inhibitor?
An inhibitor is a substance that can decrease or slow down the rate of a reaction, typically by reacting to one or more reactants.
What is Expansion?
Expansion is when a supersonic Flow turns in such a way to expand in direction of the flow.
What is Light Energy?
Light energy is an electromagnetic wave. It doesn't need a medium to travel and can move through a vacuum (like space). Light is a form of radiant energy, and it consists of electromagnetic waves (such as visible light, radio waves, and X-rays) that carry energy through space.
What Lab featured Ice Cubes in it?
The answer is the Heat Flow Lab.
