Applicants not admitted to the M.E.T. Program will be considered for admission to Berkeley Engineering’s major that corresponds to the major applied to.
What should students from out of state do if they cannot meet the F-Requirement because their school does not offer the courses?
State in their application, under the "Additional comments section" in the academic history.
Can Transfer Students submit letters of recommendation?
No. Only first-year applicants may be asked to submit letters of recommendation. Transfer applicants will not have this option.
Most international students MUST complete an English proficiency exam, T/F?
True, Proficiency in English is critical to success at UCB.
Can applicants to Berkeley select more than one major on the application?
Students can select a primary major and an alternate major. Berkeley only guarantees the review of the primary major, but may consider alternate majors if space is available when we conduct our waitlist and appeals review processes.

Score of 3, 4 or 5 on the AP Calculus AB or Calculus BC exam satisfies two years of the requirement (but not geometry)

Effective for the fall 2025 application cycle, Berkeley will no longer require IGETC/Cal-GETC, Essential Skills, or UC Reciprocity for eligibility for students applying to the College of Letters and Science and the College of Computing, Data Science and Society. Students will have to complete University of California 7-course pattern to satisfy eligibility requirements for admission.
International students should have more extracurricular activities since it may be more difficult to admit them, T/F?
False, It is important to recognize that International students do not have to do everything, but should report all extracurriculars and other activities including responsibilities and work exp.

If my total number of UC transferable units is over 80, am I eligible for admission?
Most programs will not offer admission to students who have earned an excess of 80 UC transferable semester units prior to enrollment, however, if all completed coursework is lower division, this excess unit policy does not apply.
