What is the SPS Dress Code for Grades 5-8?

Fifth - Eighth Grades

●       Single-breasted, lined navy blazer with school patch

●       Navy or khaki kilt no more than 2” above the knee with white polo or white oxford shirt 

          with optional school logo (No personal monograms or non SPS logos permitted) (worn all 

          year)

●       Navy or khaki shorts no more than 2” above the knee (Sept. 5 to Nov. 4 and Mar. 31 to  

         June 5)

●       Navy, grey or khaki tailored trousers with black or brown belt (all year)

●       Solid white or blue oxford shirt with school tie or navy V-neck; crew neck sweater or cardigan sweater    

          (optional)

●       Solid white or navy knee or anklets socks, tights

What time does school start for Grades 6-8?

Your first period starts at 8:00AM. Please arrive anytime between 7:45-8:00AM.

When does lunch start and stop? 

UG lunch is from 12:30-1:00PM

What is the new SPS phone/smart device policy? 

All cell phones and/or smart devices should be dropped off upon arrival at Ms. Kottcamp's office. They can be picked up as your dismissed at 3:20PM

What is the expectation when transitioning from one class to the next? 

Students should quickly and quietly transition from one class to another keeping in mind volume level in public spaces. Please ensure that you have all the materials you need for your next class!

Can I order lunch from outside of school? 

For the time being yes but it must arrive in time for you to eat it during lunch hours from 12:30-1:00PM. If it arrives later, you can eat it in Mr. Evan's office and return to class. If late lunch arrival persists, a communication will go home to your parent/guardian. **Cousin Mike's is a lunch provider for our school that provides well balanced meal for a reasonable price.

Why do we keep our cubbies neat?

Cubbies help keep your personal and academic belongings organized and in turn help keep you organized with your studies. They are also a visible space for our visitors such as guests and perspective students during Admission's tours.

What are some expectations that pertain to participating as a member of SPS sports teams? 

SPS sports teams are an extension of our school program. The expectation is that you are not only representing yourself, your family, but also your school. This directly relates to participation, sportsmanship, appropriate language and interactions with your coaches, other school players/coaches.

What are bathroom expectations? 

Bathrooms at SPS are non gender, meaning that they are shared by all students. Please prioritize using bathrooms on the 3rd Floor. Bathrooms unfortunately don't clean themselves, so please be mindful of these public spaces, trash and if they are in need of any maintenance, please contact Mrs. Kottcamp.

When can students play after eating their lunch? 

Lunch for UG's is intended for eating lunch. Recess balls and equipment will only be available to ALL students at 12:55PM and not earlier.

What should you do if you miss a day or several days of school?

Please have a parent/guardian at home contact the school and/or your advisor. It is then your responsibility to meet with your respective teachers to see what work you will be missing or needs to be made up. Next week we will discuss the Veracross Student Portal and how to use it.

Do I have to participate in SPS sports?

Yes participation is mandatory. If you are excused because of an injury, Nurse Val must receive a doctor's note and a general timeline as to when you can rejoin the team.
