South America is located in these two climate zones.

What is tropical and temperate zone?

100

This is categorized as a change to themselves or their own actions.

What is adapt/adaptation?

100

This type of geographic feature helped farmers grow crops through irrigation systems during the Neolithic Revolution.

What is a River?

100

Before settling in villages, humans were commonly known as this because they moved from place to place.

What is Nomadic?

100

This is a positive outcome that helps humans survive.

What is a benefit?

200

This continent is located East of the Pacific Ocean and North of the Indian Ocean.

What is Asia?

200

This is categorized as a change to the environment.

What is modify/modification?

200

People would find it difficult to survive in this physical feature because it's a very hot and dry environment.

What is a Desert?

200

The growing of crops and raising of animals helped people settle down in permanent homes.

What is agriculture?

200

This is a negative outcome that harms humans or the environment.

What is a cost?

300

This climate zone would be found North of the Arctic Circle and South of the Antarctic circle.

What is the Polar Zone?

Explain whether the humans in the image adapted to or modified the environment.

Criteria for Success: answer + detail

The humans adapted to the environment by wearing animal skins to stay warm in the cold climate. This helped them survive by protecting their bodies from the cold.

300

This physical feature would lead to smaller populations because of the inability to build homes and grow food.

What is a Mountain?

300

The Industrial Revolution changed people's lives by moving many workers from the countryside to the city.

What is Urbanization?

300

Cutting down trees changes the environment through this process.

What is deforestation?

400

This line of latitude experiences the hottest temperatures because the sun directly hits this area of the earth.

What is Equator?

400

Explain a modification that humans can make to survive in a cold freezing environment.

Criteria for Success: answer + detail

One modification humans can make to survive in a cold, freezing environment is cutting trees to make a shelter/home that will help them stay warm.

400

Explain how a plain would lead to larger populations.

Criteria for Success: answer + detail

A plain would lead to larger populations because it is an area of flat land that allows people to grow crops and build permanent shelters to survive.

400

These buildings increased during the Industrial Revolution and changed how goods were produced.

What are Factories?

400

This is the process where people bring water from one area to another to help them farm and grow their crops.

What is irrigation?

Explain how the climate would change if you moved from location A to location B.

Criteria for Success: answer + detail

If you moved from location A to location B, the climate would change from cold freezing temperatures to warm and cool temperatures. The reason for this change is because location A is in the polar zone and location B is in the temperate zone.

500

Explain something humans can do to adapt in a very hot and dry environment.

Criteria for Success: answer + detail

One thing humans can do to adapt in a hot and dry environment is wearing lighter clothes like a t-shirt and shorts to feel cooler.

500

Explain one impact of living near a lake.

Criteria for Success: answer + detail

One impact of living near a lake is that it can provide easy access to fresh water for activities such as fishing for food.

During the Hunter-Gatherer period, most people had similar jobs because they needed to hunt animals, gather plants, and find shelter to survive. During the Neolithic Revolution, people began farming and raising animals, which created more food and allowed some people to specialize in jobs such as pottery, weaving, and toolmaking. During the Industrial Revolution, job specialization increased greatly because factories divided work into specific tasks. Instead of making an entire product themselves, workers often focused on one task, such as assembling a part or operating a machine.

Evaluate which era (Hunter-Gatherer, Neolithic Revolution, or Industrial Revolution) had the most specialization.

Criteria for success:

 Identify the era (Hunter-Gatherer, Neolithic Revolution, or Industrial Revolution) using a complete sentence.

 Provide evidence from the text that that supports your claim.

 Provide why or how the evidence and your claim are connected by providing new details.

The Industrial Revolution had the most job specialization. The text states, "Instead of making an entire product themselves, workers often focused on one task". This shows the greatest specialization because workers became experts at one specific task which meant that factories could produce goods more quickly and efficiently.

500

The Industrial Revolution had a major impact on the environment due to the use of factories and machines.

What is air pollution/climate change?
