What was Bacon’s Rebellion, and how did it lead to changes in the labor system of the Southern colonies?

Bacon’s Rebellion was a 1676 uprising of poor farmers and former indentured servants in Virginia who were angry about lack of land and the government’s failure to protect them from Native attacks. 

After the rebellion, wealthy landowners became more fearful of using indentured servants who could become rebellious once freed. As a result, they began to rely more on enslaved Africans for labor, since slavery was permanent and hereditary.
