When describing place, we can talk about land features, bodies of water, animals, and plants of the area. What is this?
What are Physical Characteristics?
When describing place, we can talk about man-made things such as language, buildings, government, bridges. What is this?
What are Human Characteristics?
When two people exchange things. Each person gives something to get another thing. Or they can buy and sell.

This part of the map shows the meanings of symbols on a map. It is usually in a box on the corner of the map. There are 2 names for this.

This theme of geography divides areas into manageable parts. For example, we live in the Mid-Atlantic States. All the states here have something in common.

What is Absolute Location (Longitude and Latitude)?
People change to their environment. When it is cold outside, we wear warm coats and jackets.
What is ADAPTING to the environment?
When people change their environment to suit their needs. We cut down the trees, clear the land, then build tall buildings.
What is MODIFYING the environment?
