What is the definition of balance?

Even distribution of force that involves stability

100

What is the definition of particles?

A tiny part of matter

100

What does gas particles look like?

The particles are spread apart very much so they can move around

100

How do you use a pan balance?

You first calibrate the pan balance. Then you put your object in. You also put in your metric weights. Then, you try and find the weights that will match up with the object that you chose. After that, you count the weights to find the weight of that object

100

What is the contrast between conductors and insulators for electricity? Which material is better

An insulator doesn't let electricity pass easily. A conductor can though. Conductors are usually metal. Good insulators are rubber, wood and plastic

200

What does mixture mean?

A substance made by combining other substances

200

What does matter mean?

Everything that has weight and takes up space

200

What does liquid particles look like?

They are not too far or not too close, the particles can move around a little

200

What is the difference and similarities between a digital scale and a pan balance?

The digital scale is more accurate than the pan balance. You can use both of them to measure wight. The pan balance takes up much more time than the digital scale which is more efficient

200

What does it mean when something is magnetic? What material are magnetic?

Something that is magnetic means that something is attracted to another object. Usually metal is attracted to other metals. Such as on refrigerators

300

What is weight?

A force that an object is pulled by gravity
300

What is chemical change?

A change caused by chemical reaction that will change at least one substance to another

300

What do solid particles look like?

They are so close together and packed so they form hard objects

300

When a substance changes from a state of matter to another in a closed system, do the numbers of particles change? Is the matter the same or different?

No. It doesn't change because in a closed system, particles cannot escape. The mass will also not change because it is the same thing but it is just a different state of matter.

300

What is the difference between chemical change and physical change?

Chemical change means that it has a chemical reaction and at least one new substance is made. But, the physical change, changes the look but stays the same substance

400

What is physical change?

A change that includes the physical properties of a material. But, only the appearance changes and the substance will stay the same.
400

What is element?

More than one hundred substances that cannot be broken down into smaller substances

400

What shapes do they take up of?

Gas: Takes up the space of it's container.

Liquid: It takes up the shape of it's container.

Solid: Solid's take up the shape/space of it's defined space.

400

What are the four properties of light?

Opaque: Light cannot go through

Reflect: Light bounces off of an object

Translucent: Some light can go through an object

Transparent: Light can clearly go through an object

400

What are the differences between reversible and irreversible?

Reversible means that something can be undone. It can be turned back into its original form. This is a physical change. Irreversible means that something cannot be undone and it cannot get back to its original form. This is a chemical reaction.
500
What is the meaning of insulator?

A material that usually does not easily transmit energy.

500

What is the meaning of conductor?

A material that can transmit a form of energy easily

500

What are examples of gases, liquids and solids?

Gases: Air, steam, some elements of the periodic table.

Liquid: Juice, milk, water, soda, matter that you can mostly drink.

Solid: Desk, anything you can touch

500

What is the contrast between conductors and insulators of heat? What kind of material is better?

Conductors: Lets heat pass easily

Insulator: It mostly does not let heat pass easily

Plastic is a better material because it is an insulator. It does not let heat pass easily unlike the metal cup which is a conductor that does let heat pass easily.

500

True or False? Liquid and gas particles are the same

False. Liquid particles are not as spread apart as gas particles but they both take the shape of its container
