Diction is the words and author chooses to use when he/she writes, and then syntax is the arrangement of words and phrases to create well-formed sentences. 

Diction example: Maybe an author chooses to use the word "furious" instead of "angry"

Syntax example: "The boy kicked the ball" instead of the incorrect: "Kicked the boy the ball"

Rhyme Scheme: Ordered pattern of rhymes at the ends of the lines of a poem or verse

Rhyming Couplet: A pair of two back-to-back lines of poetry that rhyme with each other.
