What is artifact?
Scientist who studies the physical remains of the past
What is archaeologist?
A narrow island between the mainland and the ocean.
What is a barrier island?
A crack in Earth's surface caused by moving plates
What is fault line?
A small, high plateau
What is mesa?
A portable home made of tan bison hides fastened to a framework of poles
What is tepee?
A mix of sun-dried earth and straw used to build houses
What is adobe?
A layer of rock or gravel that absorbs rainfall and keeps it flowing underground

a steep slope or cliff

Large-scale farming including production, processing, and distribution

A person believed to have the power to summon spirits and heal the sick
