Stamp Act
every piece of paper the colonists used was taxed by the British (Newspapers, legal documents, playing cards).
Loyalist
Also known as Tories, Royalists, or King's Men, were American colonists who remained loyal to the British King during the American Revolutionary War.
Sugar Act
strongly enforced tax on sugar, molasses, and other products imported into the American colonies
Patriot
Also known as Rebels, Revolutionaries, or American Whigs, were those American colonists who rebelled against British control during the American Revolutionary War.
Quartering Act
American colonies had to provide the British soldiers with any needed accommodations or housing. It also required colonists to provide food for any British soldiers in the area.
Boston Tea Party
A protest (boycott) on the tax on tea. Colonists dressed up as Native Americans and threw boxes of tea into the Boston Harbor.
Townshend Act
In 1767, Britain taxed imported goods such as glass, lead, paint, and tea
Boston Massacre
A riot in Boston (March 5, 1770) arising from the anger of Boston colonists toward British troops.
Tea Act
Colonist were smuggling tea into the colonies because of the Townshend Act. The Tea Act lowered taxes on the Tea coming from Britain in hopes that the colonists would not buy smuggled tea.
Boycott

were the Patriots' term for laws passed by the British Parliament in 1774 after the Boston Tea Party. They were meant to punish the Massachusetts colonists because of the Boston Tea Party.
