Who is Booker T. Washington and W.E.B Du Bois were both African American civil rights activist's but differed in their views of activism. Washington believed it would take time to get equality in civil rights and would improve as African Americans get better labor skills. Du Bois on the other hand believed that things needed to change now and that the top 10% of African Americans should immediately be accepted into society.

African Americans are still being held to a specific etiquette and being lynched. The North is also harsh on African Americans. Mexican Workers are also discriminated against in the West and Americans fear the Chinese in job competition leading to the Chinese Exclusion Act.
