The purpose of the ICJ is to settle disputes between countries.

There are 15 judges. The Western states have 5 judges, African states have 3 judges, Eastern European states have 2 judges, Asian states have 3 judges, and Latin American/Caribbean states have 2 judges.

Name a cause for the USSR's collapse. Explain. 

  • Internal conflicts amongst leaders (those who followed Lenin’s ideals, ideas towards capitalism, or any sort of power in government).  

  • Imperialism → pushed western powers agenda into really opening up the market in Soviet Union. Worked with collaborators and pro-U.S. leaders.

  • Revisionism → straying away from the original plan/idea and change it into something different. 

    Ex: Soviet leadership were willing to stop following the paths of socialism that Lenin hoped for.

The security of the council of the UN may take action. If one of the 5 permanent countries are involved in the trial, they have the power to veto. Those countries includes China, France, Russia, U.S., and the U.K.

Coup d'état is when a small opposition group overthrows a government.

Name a colonizer that colonized the Philippines. List some impacts that colonization has in the Philippines. 

Spain: Spanish last names, Spanish was an official language, Spanish words in the regional languages, food similarities, Catholicism being the most dominant religion, converting native Filipinos into Christianity, exploitation of natives for the Spanish to benefit. 

United States: Install government-like structures (ex: Congress and President), corporations exploiting the land and Filipino people, displacing native Filipinos, Americanizing Filipinos to be like more "Western", English becoming an official language, encouraging Filipinos to work abroad instead in the homeland, English being integrated into every day Filipino language, glorifying U.S. government officials.
