In the aftermath of Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor, President FDR issued Executive Order 9066 which sent 120,000 Japanese-Americans to internment camps. It was controversial not only because it was discriminatory but also since most the aforementioned people who were imprisoned had nothing to do with Imperial Japan.
