What is Newtons First Law?

An object at rest will stay at rest and an object in motion with stay in motion (with the same velocity) unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

100

What is Newtons Second Law?

Force is equal to the objects mass times acceleration.

100

What is Newtons Third Law?

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

100

What is the SI unit for Force?

Newton (N).

100

What is a push or a pull on an object?

Force.

200

What is Newton's First Law also referred to as?

The Law of Inertia.

200

As acceleration increases, what happens to the force of the object?

Also increases.

200
Forces always come in...

Pairs.

200

What is the SI unit for Weight?

Newton (N).

200

What is a force that opposes the motion of an object?

Friction.

300

What is inertia?

Property of matter that resists changes in motion.

300

As mass increases, what happens to the force of an object?

Decreases.

300

What is the reaction force when a tennis racket strikes a tennis ball?

The tennis ball fly's through the air.

300

What is the SI unit for acceleration?

Meters per second squared (m/s2).

300

When a pair of balanced forces act on an object, what is the net force?

Zero.

400
What property increases with mass?

Inertia.

400

Calculate the force on a 3 kg exercise ball that has an acceleration of 10 m/s2.

30 N

400

When a 2 kg shot put leaves an athletes hand it has a velocity of 12 m/s. What is the momentum of the shot put?

24 kgm/s

400

What is the SI unit for Momentum?

Kilograms meters per second (kgm/s).

400

What happens to an object when unbalanced forces act on it?

The object moves or accelerates.

500

What is the difference between mass and weight?

Weight includes the force of gravity. Weight will change when gravity changes but mass will not.

500

An athlete throws a 1 kg ball with a force of 5 N. What is the acceleration of the ball?

5 m/s2

500

What is conserved when two objects collide?

Momentum.

500

What does the Newton unit also equal?

Kilograms meters per second squared (kgm/s2)
500

What is the force that keeps an object moving in a circle?

Centripetal force.
