A white male, had been denied access to the University Medical School on two occasions. The medical school set aside 16 spots for minority candidates in a attempt to address unfair minority exclusion from medical school. All 16 candidates from both years had tests scores lower then him but they were admitted. He contested that his exclusion from the school was based on race alone.

Local school boards were allowed to reimburse parents for the cost of public transportation to and from schools. Including Catholic schools. A citizen complained that that was indirect aid to religious instruction at taxpayer expense, and that it essentially violated the separation of church and state.

A student was found in possession of prescription ibuprofen pills at school and stated that the pills had come from another student. School officials searched the student's backpack and outer clothing and didn't find any pills. They then directed her to remove all her clothing down to her underwear and even pulled out her bra and the elastic band on her underwear. The family sued the school district.
Safford Unified School District #1 v. Redding (2009)
African-American student had to walk five miles to the local school that enrolled minority students, when a "white" school was right across from her house. Her parents (along with some others) sued the local school board on the grounds that she was being denied equal protection guaranteed by the Constitution. The school board claimed that the schools were "separate but equal". Eventually this case made it to the Supreme Court.

High School freshmen were caught smoking cigarettes in the bathroom by a teacher. The assistant vice principal, questioned them, and one girl admitted to smoking but the other girl denied it. The assistant vice principal forced her to hand over her purse and he searched it. He found cigarettes, along with drug paraphernalia, and evidence that she was a drug dealer in the school. She was expelled and the parents sued citing protection from unconstitutional search and seizure.

A group of individual taxpayers and religious liberty organizations filed suit, challenging the constitutionality of the program. They claimed that, since the program primarily aided parochial schools, it violated the 1st Amendment.
