What was the cause of the Persian war?


The Greek city states tried to help city-states in Asia minor to rebel against the Persian Empire.  The Persian Empire didn’t like that so they attacked mainland Greece.

How was citizenship in Rome different than citizenship in Athens?

In Athens all males who were born in Athens were given equal citizenship and were all able to participate in the Assembly.  In Athens foreigners were not allowed to become citizens.  In Rome there were different levels of citizenship and non Romans could become citizens.  In the Roman Senate not all men were able to participate, only 300 men who were from the wealthiest part of society served for life and inherited their seats.

After the Persian war Greek city states formed alliances to work together incase of future attack.  Athens became very powerful and many city-states resented their control, so a 27 year civil war between the Delian League, led by Athens, and the Peloponnesian League led by Sparta broke out between all the city-states in Greece.

Who was Alexander the great and how did he transform the places he conquered.

Alexander the Great was the son of Philip II of Macedonia.  When his father died, Alexander took over as king at the age of 20.  He wanted to conquer the world and did so creating the largest empire of the time. He spread Hellenistic culture throughout the lands that he conquered
