Find the equivalent percent for 2/5 AND explain in words how to do it without using a calculator!
What is 40%? I know that if I convert 2/5 to an equivalent fraction with a denominator of 10 or 100, then I can easily write the fraction as a decimal and find the percent. So, I multiplied the denominator of 5 by 2 to get 10 as my denominator of my equivalent fraction, and then I had to do the same thing to my numerator, and I got 4. So, my equivalent fraction was 0.4, or 0.40. 40/100 is the same as 40%, so I easily found the equivalent percent by converting 2/5 to an equivalent fraction.
