The trail is a history book that has come to life. One spot on the trail is the Fowey Rocks Lighthouse. People began building the lighthouse in 1875. It was built to warn sailors about the reef that stuck out five miles from the shore. Before this lighthouse was built, the only warning light came from the Cape Florida.
