Trivia
100

What is the difference between abiotic and biotic?

abiotic = non living

biotic = living

100

What are the three ways populations can be dispersed?

clumped, random, uniform

100

What happens to the amount of energy as you move from one trophic level to the next?

The amount of energy decreases.

100

Which level is next?

Ecosystem

100

Who's that pokemon?

It's Snorlax!

200

Put the levels of organization in order from largest to smallest.

Biosphere, biome, ecosystem, community, population, organism

200

What's something that can increase or decrease a population's density (the number of animals or plants in an area)?

Births, deaths, immigration, emigration

200

Aside from the sun, what trophic level has the most amount of energy and which trophic level has the least?

Producers have the most and support the entire system and the tertiary consumers have the least

200

(1) What specific type of relationship is this?

(2) Explain why!

(1) Competition

(2) Because 2 rabbits of the same species are competing/fighting

200

What is Batman's, aka Bruce Wayne, butlers name?

Alfred Pennyworth

300

Which characteristic of life is described below?

A single oak tree can produce hundreds of acorns which later become future trees!

Ability to reproduce!
300

(1) Which limiting factor affects the individuals in a population equally? (Regardless of their size or density?)

(2) Which limiting factor specifically affects populations that are larger and denser?

(1) Density Independent Factor

(2) Density Dependent Factor

300

We understand that each trophic level receives 10% of the energy from the previous trophic level but what happens to the the remaining energy?

90% of it gets transferred/transformed into heat

300

(1) What type of dispersion (spacing) pattern is represented in the picture?

(2) Would you say this is also an example of high density or low density?

(1) Random

(2) High Density

300

Snoop Dogg often collaborates with his best friend for TV and movie appearances, what’s her name?

Martha Stewert

400

Explain what the difference is between a community and an ecosystem

A community only describes the biotic organisms in the interacting environment while ecosystems include both biotic and abiotic things.

400

Which type of limiting factors is this and why?

FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) can quickly spread from one cat to another if the virus is present in the population. This can spread and cause a large population to be infected.

Density dependent factor because viruses/diseases are factors that depend on a large population. More organisms in a population = more opportunities for viruses/diseases to spread.

400

Thinking about what you know about energy flow and the types of organism that exists in ecosystems, what's the only organisms that can receive energy from every single trophic level AND why is that?

Decomposers! It's because decomposers consume all dead things, which includes plants and animals.

400

(1) Which type of symbiosis is this?

(2) Explain why!

(1) Mutualism

(2) Because the clownfish protects the sea anemone from other animals AND the sea anemone gives the clownfish a place to live!

400

What is the name of Captain Raymond Holt’s corgi in Brooklyn Nine-Nine?

Chedder!
