Using and Recognizing the subjunctive mood
The subjunctive mood can be used express a request, a demand, or a proposal. It can also be used to express an Idea that is contrary to a fact.
There are three moods in which a verb can express an action or a condition: indicative, imperative and subjunctive.
Indicative mood which is the most common, is used to factual statements (she is helpful) and ask questions (Is she helpful?)
Imperative is used to give orders or directions (Be helpful.)
Subjunctive mood can be used in two ways: (1) Use the subjunctive mood in a clause beginning with that to express a request, a demand, or a proposal. (2) Use the subjunctive mood in a clause beginning with if or that to express and idea that is contrary to fact
To form the subjunctive, follow these rules: First, in clause expressing a request, a demand, or a proposal, use the base of the verb, even if the subject is third person singular. Second, in a clause expressing an idea contrary to the fact, the subjunctive mood of the verb be is were, regardless of the subject.

Using who and whom correctly
Who is used for the nominative case. Whom is used for the objective case.
When who and whom are used as interrogative pronouns in questions, they follow rules similar to the rules for personal pronouns: Use the nominative case (Who) for the subject of verb or for a predicate nominative. Use objective case (whom) for a direct object, for an indirect object, or object of a preposition.
When who or whom introduces a subordinate clause, such as a relative clause, its form depends on its role in the subordinate clause. If it is the subject of the verb in the subordinate clause, use the nominative case (who). If it is the subject object of the verb in the subordinate clause, use the objective case (whom).
Using various verb forms
Both action verbs and linking verbs have many forms. Learning to recognize and create the various forms of verbs will help you express your ideas clearly.

Using active and passive voice
In general use of active voice makes for stronger writing. However, writers may use passive voice when they want to emphasize the receiver of an action, or when the performer of an action is unimportant or not really identified.
This list shows two examples of appropriate use of passive voice:
David was presented with a difficult choice. (emphasizes the receiver of action, David)
The library's hours were posted on the door (the performer of the action is not easily identified)

Identifying active and passive voice
The voice of a verb shows whether the subject is performing the action of the verb or is receiving the action of the verb.
Active voice shows that the subject is performing an action. Passive voice shows that the subject is having an action performed on it. To create the passive voice, use a form of helping verb be plus the past participle of the main verb. If you wish to indicate the performer of the action, introduce the performer with the preposition by, as in example below.
Active Voice- Celine planned the party.
Passive Voice- The party was planned by Celine.
Regular and irregular verbs
Regular verbs form the past and past participle by adding -ed or -d (and sometimes doubling the final consonant). Irregular verbs do not use a predictable pattern to form their past and present.
