Colleges require you to take one of these tests for admission because it lets them know that you are "able to perform work at the college level"; The tests were created by different companies but most colleges will accept either test.

financial=money; aid=help (it's simply money that will help you pay for something... for college in this case!)

Scholarships are more merit-based while grants are all need-based. Neither need to be paid back.
What's a "syllabus?"
The professor gives you a syllabus on the first day of class (or asks you to print one for yourself before the first day)--it's a plan for that entire class and includes the professor's contact info., resources, rules, and what you'll be graded on.

If you sign up to take "15 credits" your first semester of college, what does that mean?
If you're taking 15 hours, that means that you are attending 15 hours of class per week. Courses are usually 3 credits each so you would be enrolled in 5 courses. Some courses could be more or less depending on amount of work and time involved in the course.
