Protection from excessive fines, cruel and unusual punishments

Formally abolished slavery
Article III
Establishes the Judicial Branch (Supreme Court)
4th Amendment
Protection from unreasonable search and seizure
9th Amendment
Insures the rights of the people not listed in the constitution
14th Amendment
Established that African Americans as equal citizens of the US
Article IV
Establishes the relationship between the citizens, the states, and the federal government
5th Amendment
Protection from Double Jeopardy and Self-Incrimination
10th Amendment
The Federal Government only has powers assigned in the Constitution.
15th Amendment
The right to vote should not be denied based on race, color, or previous condition of servitude
Article V
Establishment of an amendment must be proposed and ratified by two-thirds of the Legislative branch and the States
