Abraham Lincoln

The 26th President of the United States was most well known for his foreign policy, "speak softly while carrying a big stick." Also known for his strong stance on protecting the environment and busting up trusts.

Teddy Roosevelt

The 32nd President who lead America through some of its biggest challenges, including the Great Depression and World War 2. This president also is the only president to have served more than 2 terms in office, and after his passing the 22nd amendment making the former precedent official law.

This supreme court case established Judicial review, or the power for the Supreme Court to declare laws unconstitutional 

Marbury Vs. Madison (1803)

This supreme court case established the Supremacy clause, or that the Federal government overrides state laws

McCullough vs. Maryland (1819)

This supreme court case of 1857 determined that all African Americans, whether freed or slaves did not have the rights extended to citizens of the United States

Dred Scott Vs. Sandford

This Supreme Court case ruled that "seperate but equal" facilities were Constitutional during the Jim Crow south, validating segregated white and black spaces for Americans

Plessy V. Furgeson (1896)

This supreme court case overturned the ruling of Plessy v. Furgeson (1896), which began the gradual end of segregation in the United States thanks to the Civil Rights movement.

Brown V. Board of Education (1854)

This war had the Colonists and England team up against the French and Native Americans, and would be an extremley expensive war leading to England increasing their taxation on the colonies.

French and Indian War (1754-63)

This war granted the 13 colonies  Independence from England, and was largely fought due to what the colonists believed to be unfair taxation

Revolutionary War/ War for Independence (1776-1783)

This war began after the election of Abraham Lincoln, where Southern states seceded from the Union in an attempt to preserve their economic system of slavery. The end of this war would ultimately solve the slavery question in the United States, and begin the period of Reconstruction.

The Civil War (1861-65)

This war involved America getting involved in a sprawling global conflict, which by the end of it would leave only two superpowers standing, the United States and the Soviet Union. The end of this war also began the Atomic Age.

World War 2 (US involved from 1940-45)

What began as a proxy dispute between the North and South of this country became one of the bloodiest wars in Americas history. This was an extremely unpopular war on the home front, featuring widespread protests especially after President Johnson initiated a draft.

Vietnam War (US involved 1955-1973)

This Amendment gives Congress the power to tax any individual or business based on their income

16th Amendment

This Amendment repealed the 18th Amendment, which lifted the ban on alcohol in the United States, ending the period of Prohibition in the United States

21st Amendment

Social Movements
