No, there is no deadline to apply for a single room, and single room accommodation requests are possible all year round. However, for the upcoming Fall semester, we encourage people to apply by June 1st to reduce their odds of being put on a single room waitlist

NO! In fact, a majority of the students we work with have no prior accommodations.

ESAs are only allowed in a student’s individual dorm room; they are not allowed in hallways, kitchens, bathrooms, lobby, etc.

No! Disclosure is up to the student. The DRC will not share your information with anyone unless you ask us to.

No, students can request a first/floor placement, elevator access, AC, Furniture Alteration, and Room Assignment Location, etc.

How do my professors find out about my accommodations?


DRC Connect Faculty Notification Letters- Each semester, students use our system, DRC Connect, to send out email notifications to their professors.

Will a list of my diagnosis and medications count as reasonable documentation?

No, typically, a list of all diagnoses or names of medication is not sufficient documentation for a housing request. We recommend that students have their providers complete the following documentation forms: General Clinician Form for Residence Life Accommodations and Clinician Form for an ESA

Can I bring my ESA to campus prior to my approval of the accommodation?

No, a student is required to supply the required vaccinations for the animal and sign the ESA agreement form before bringing the animal to campus. You cannot have the animal on campus before the approval of an ESA as a reasonable accommodation.
